LINTHICUM HEIGHTS UNITED METHODIST CHURCH
SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION TERMS AND GUIDELINES
 
TERMS
1. First Time Application
By April 30th, first-time applicant shall have submitted:
A. Completed scholarship application;
B. Copy of most recent transcript (high school or college);
C. Two letters of recommendation–one from a school official and one
from a Linthicum Heights United Methodist Church church leader; and
D. Letter of acceptance from post-high school, college or university to the Scholarship
Committee.
It is the responsibility of the applicant to have the above listed items in the hands of the
Chairperson of the Scholarship Committee by April 30th. Incomplete and/or late
applications will not be considered by the Committee.
2. Renewal Application
By April 30th, applicant shall have submitted:
A. Completed scholarship application; and
B. Most recent grade report/transcript.
3. Applicants will be notified of the Committee’s decision by May 30th.
4. The numbers of scholarships granted each year and the amount of the award shall be at
the discretion of the Scholarship Committee.
5. Checks are made payable to the vocational/technical school, college or university to be
credited to the account of the recipient.
6. Applicant may re-apply each year (see #2 above).
7. All information pertaining to scholarship applications shall be kept confidential within the
Scholarship Committee. Information about the activities of the Committee may be secured
by contacting the Chairperson of the Committee.
8. Applicants receiving a scholarship are strongly encouraged to attend the recognition service
normally held in June.
9. In order for the Scholarship Committee to continue to make funds available to future
applicants, it is strongly urged that recipients, upon completion of his/her academic
work, make a contribution to the Scholarship Fund.

GUIDELINES
1. Scholarship applications are available from the Linthicum Heights United Methodist Church
office (410-859-0990).
2. Applicants shall be active members of the Linthicum Heights United Methodist Church for
at least one year prior to filing for scholarship funds. Exceptions to this rule will be at the
sole discretion of the Scholarship Committee.
3. Applicant shall have made application to an accredited post-high school, college or
university.
4. Applicant shall have maintained a satisfactory cumulative academic GPA of at least 2.0 (‘C’
average).
5. Applicant shall express an intention to enter a specific vocation or area of study.
6. Committee shall consider financial need of applicant.
7. Applications should be mailed or hand-carried to the Scholarship Committee, Linthicum
Heights United Methodist Church, 200 School Lane, Linthicum, Maryland 21090.
