Indoor Worship

What to Expect

Worship with us on Sunday mornings at 10:30am in the Sactuary.
If you do not feel comfortable attending in person indoors, we have two options for your consideration: First, you can join us outdoors at 8:30am on the front lawn of the church where you can sit on the lawn or you can join us from the comfort of your car as you tune in to our FM transmitter (98.3). Secondly, you can join us online at 10:00am from the comfort of your home.

The most current guidelines are below;

you can also download a PDF copy HERE, to save or print.

What You Need to Know:

  • Due to capacity restrictions, registration is required to attend indoor Worship.

Register on our website at LHUMC.org or leave a message on the office phone. Registration will open each week on Monday mornings. Pre-registering helps us with our required contact tracing, gets you to your seat quicker, and helps us plan for appropriate physical distancing requirements.

If you are unable to pre-register, we will not turn you away unless we reach our physical distancing capacity. Please register early in the week to help us with planning.

  • Family members who do not live with you should register separately, as you will only be seated together with the people who live in your household.
  • We will not offer Sunday School for adults, youth, or children and we will not have a nursery at indoor Worship. We will continue to offer on-line Sunday School for children and Senior High youth.

Before You Arrive:

Please be familiar with CDC guidelines for People Who Are at Increased Risk for Severe Illness.

Please affirm that everyone in your group answers no to the following questions:

Have I or someone in my group had a fever over 100.4 in the past 14 days?

Have I or someone in my group experienced any flu like symptoms in the past 14
days?

Have I or someone in my group had prolonged exposure to someone who has
tested positive for Covid-19 in the last 14 days?

Have I or someone in my group traveled to a hot spot (a positivity rate > than 10%) as defined by the state of MD in the past 14 days? Click here to find positivity rates.

Are there any medical reasons why I or someone in my group should not be
around other people?

If you answer “yes” to any of these questions, you may not attend Outdoor Worship until you have been cleared by a negative COVID-19 test or by a health provider, and answered the secondary list of questions per our protocols.

Safety is our First Priority:

  • Please enter the sanctuary through the front doors. There will be no access through the building from the back parking lot.
  • Check-in is required before entering. A Safety Angel will guide you to your seat.
  • Temperature pre-screening is required at the Welcome Center. If your temperature registers above 100.4, you will be asked to participate online.
  • Face Masks are required. Face Masks must be worn properly, per CDC guidelines. (This means your mouth and nose are covered.) Gators and bandanas are not acceptable Face Masks.
  • Physical distancing of 6’ is required and seating areas will be marked accordingly.
  • We will train Safety Angels to guide and assist when necessary. They will be identifiable by their yellow t-shirts.
  • Our traffic patterns will be one-way where possible.
  • We will have hand sanitizing stations for your use.
  • You may bring water, but a straw is required. Drinking through a straw allows you to keep your Face Mask on.
  • This will be a “contactless service.” We will not shake hands, hug, exchange printed materials, or pass an offering plate.
  • We will provide an offering drop-off location; however, we still encourage giving online as the preferred method of giving.
  • When the service is over, you will be excused by one of our Safety Angels.
  • For safety reasons, other areas of the church building will be closed except for bathroom access.
  • Bathroom access will be dependent on your seating location and limited by Safety Angels.
  • Once you are seated, please remain in your seat unless you have assistance from a Safety Angel. (Raise your hand for this assistance.)

A Look Toward the Future:

Please be aware that protocols could change at any time due to COVID-19. We will continue to monitor best practices from the CDC and other governmental organizations as we make decisions that affect us all.

Our focus remains to keep our faith community healthy and safe.

We will keep you updated as decisions are made.
